This Event is a Symposium, Organised by the IABR.

Unsustainable growth (urbanization) and shifting time horizons in delta management increase the urgency of the environmental crisis in deltas. Besides, an opportunity for a ‘reset’ arises, it is essential to identify and understand pathways to a sustainable and inclusive delta in which transformations are likely necessary. The time is now for transformative change.

15 Design & Engineering practice partners investigated 5 Delta moments:
Defacto, Vista and Arcadis (LIMBURG)
Fabrications, Bosch Slabbers and Tauw (RIVER CORRIDOR-WAAL)
Urbanisten, Lola and Royal Haskoning DHV (ROTTERDAM REGION)
Zus, Flux and Sweco (MIDDEN DELFLAND)
Studio Hartzema, Feddes-Olthof and Witteveen & Bos (ZEELAND).

They have experimented, in an open confrontation, drawing from previous path dependencies and envisioning new relations able to trigger fundamental systemic change.

The session is an open dialogue with the Delta community on a live agenda and future actions for the Delta. Based on the Redesigning Deltas study We -the invitees, IABR and the general public in other words- the Delta community, will explore concrete design strategies and formulate a Manifesto for the now.
