The first Panorama Ukraine workshop Working on Water will take place in the Keilepand in Rotterdam from 27 November to 1 December. During this workshop, designers, municipalities, and water experts will work on the reconstruction of the Dnipro Delta region in Ukraine, the area where the Kakhovka Dam in southern Ukraine was destroyed on 6 June 2023.
There will also be lectures and field trips related to water and its role in reconstruction. Lessons learned from this workshop will be shared in an online environment, so that other areas and countries can benefit by using them as building blocks for reconstruction.

Panorama Ukraine is a long-term program and jointly supported project involving Ukraine – the Netherlands Urban Network (UNUN), Archiprix International, College van Rijksadviseurs (CRa), Vereniging Deltametropool (VDM), Independent School for the City, City of Rotterdam, Nieuwe Instituut (NI), local Ukrainian partners and stakeholders, and the IABR.
This collaboration aims to rebuild Ukraine in a sustainable and resilient manner by leveraging Dutch expertise in water management and reconstruction. The Netherlands has a history of innovative water management and infrastructure development that provides valuable lessons for Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts. This project, developed with and by Ukrainian architects and urban designers, has a design dimension, but also serves to give the population hope, protect their human dignity, and strengthen their self-esteem.
The IABR emphasizes the value of research by design in addressing global challenges such as climate change, water management, and housing.
